Our Missionary Families
HPC supports two missionary families:
Tom & Nancy Rach
Chiapas, Mexico
The Rachs serve in one of the poorest states in Mexico, the southern state of Chiapas. They minister to the poor using agricultural & community development projects (sanitation and water technologies) combined with Bible studies and kids clubs. They work in partnership with the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico and other local Christians. Tom holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Education and Extension. His wife, Nancy, has a bachelor of science in Rural Sociology.
Scott & Melanie Smith
India
As Consultants for Community Health and Development of the PCUSA, in 2000, Scott began working with the Emmanuel Hospital Association as trainer in community organizing skills for the field staff of the various hospitals. He and Melanie also keep up with the health and development projects that the PC (USA) is supporting in India, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Scott has a master’s degree in soil and plant science and a master of science degree in training. Melanie is a certified midwife and registered nurse.
