Mission Trips
God calls each Christian to lead others to Him, in many different ways. A mission trip can be a life-changing opportunity to spread love and share the Gospel!
Hilton Presbyterian has sponsored four mission trips to Chiapas, Mexico. We do this to assist and support the Rach family (one of the mission families we, as a church, sponsor), to help people in need, and to enrich our own walk with God. As servants of the Lord, our main mission there is three-fold:
- to assist the poor people of Comitán, Chiapas, with basic sanitation and water needs;
- to help plant the seeds of the Gospel among the barrio’s children; and
- to be friends and witnesses to members of the young Protestant community.
Each trip has provided participants with the opportunity to experience God’s grace outside the comfort of the United States and to witness firsthand what day-to-day existence is like for some of the poorest people in our hemisphere. Most of the water tanks and latrines we build are for indigenous people who live the same way they have for centuries. Some of the families are Christians who have fled persecution; others may never have heard the Word of God. The families we assist participate with us by supplying sand, some labor, and by fixing breakfast for us over open fires.
Join Us in 2008
Our 2008 trip is planned for August 2-10. Team members can be adults, senior high youth (with written permission from both parents), or families.
We spend the months before the trip preparing financially, spiritually, culturally, and in team-building.
